The Goose Lake/Davis Creek area is in California, near the Oregon border north of Alturas. There are a few Obsidian Mines in the area that can be visited and collected from with a permit that can be obtained from the U.S. Forest Service office in Alturas. The mines are: The Pink Lady (Pink Obsidian), Needles (Mahogany Obsidian Needles), Rainbow and Middle Fork mines (Rainbow Obsidian). They are up in the hills above the town of Davis Creek where there are great views of Goose Lake and Mt. Shasta way off in the distance.
