The Ludwig Mine is located in Smith Valley west of Yerington and a few miles south of Fort Churchill, Nevada. Copper was mined there from 1908 to 1914. There was also a large deposit of Gypsum there. Today there are the ruins of the old Stamp Mill to see, where some art students decorated the columns with Egyptian themed art. You can find Azurite, Malachite and Epodote in Granite and Opalite along Mason Pass Rd. in the area.
